@7.30pm

Blending improvisation, ambient textures and contemporary classical influences, the duo creates a performance that move fluidly between genres.

Presented in the dimly lit atmosphere of SJQ — one of London’s most intimate performance spaces — this unique Tokyo–London collaboration offers a rare opportunity to experience their music up close, where every nuance, resonance, and moment of interplay can be heard and felt.

KOSHUN NAKAO

Koshun's distinctive sound combines piano with warm ambient textures. Released through labels around the world, his work has resonated with listeners globally and established him as one of the leading voices in Japan's emerging neo-classical scene.

RIEKO MAKITA

Classically-trained at the Royal College of Music, Rieko’s work moves between piano, composition, and sound worlds shaped by texture and colour. Born in Tokyo, raised in Australia and currently based in London, her music explores themes of seasons, migration and belonging. She has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and on BBC Radio 3, and will release her debut EP, “Where is Home?,” in October 2026, funded by the PRS Foundation.
